Default Light Switch Fiber Optics (or lighting)

Anyone here have a solution to how to better reach the little pod buried in the dash for the fiber optic line to the little blue light on the headlight switch? I replaced the bulb once before, and it was an absolute nightmare to get to. I would really like to get it working again and perhaps replace the bulb with an LED or something that will last more than a few months. Since the light is on with the ignition, a regular 168 or 192 is pointless.

While on the subject, was there ever a lighted version of our headlight switch made? I don't understand why if they could light the stereo, A/C controls, and even the tiny light on the rear defogger switch that they couldn't light a switch used so much more often.

    Thanks!
    Jim

    No lighted version.
You can remove the gauges and the plastic gauge support if you are having trouble accessing it.
