Default How do you remove the center console?

I need to remove the center console in my 86 442 so I can replace the carpet. How is the console attached? Thanks.

Wow, with that much information I'm sure I'll be able to pull the console with no problems.

Common now, don't be like that... it's litterally that simple as what I stated.
My response was appropriate and not rude so don't get offended, if it were trivial then you would've been guided in the right direction.
Console is held in by 4 screws, two in plain sight in the box and two under the shift plate thats it, thats why I said an 8mm or maybe a 7mm socket and intuition.

It's best to explore and take a try at things first and come back with questions just like the power seat.
If you think you're going to break something after trying it first then come back and describe your issue.

Some guys on different forums would automatiacally tear you apart for not trying it out first or on your technical abilities / manhood.
Thats not going to happen here, I won't tolerate it and they'll just be banned...
However, maybe I should've worded it better... take a try at it first and let us know if you have issues, you'll find its extremely simple and can treat it as a learning experience which will be rewarding in the end.

Now back to the topic, did you get it out or are you having problems?

7 mm. Is correct. 9/32 also works real well. The rest of the description is spot on. Good luck
