    Default Fresh Paint

Before (this is a real VIN 9 442 but had been a theft recovery & was repainted monotone). There were actually 5 layers of paint on this car.

During disassembly. The car had only two tiny spots of rust in front of rear wheels & some minor cancer on the bottom of the door seams. Car is 100% rust free now.

My 1987 Olds 442 fresh from the paint booth Sunday night. The car is anything but stock so I decided to not go back to the factory two-tone. I have borrowed some styling cues from other Oldsmobile cars. That is not Firefrost Gold but the gold is Hurst inspired.

    Awesome paint scheme.
How does the rear stripe finish off, does it continue to the bottom of the bumper cover?

It just terminates on the quarter panel & does not extend down onto the bumper cover. I will post pics when the car is all back together but here are a couple more for now.

A diesel block based 470 cid SBO. It utilizes a stroked 425 steel crank. Edelbrock heads, 11.2:1 compression, victor intake, 850 cfm AED carb & a flat tappet camshaft (not a roller). It is bolted to a T400 with a 3500 stall converter & a Ford 9" with 3.89 gears. The engine breathes through American Racing headers & a 3" exhaust. Weighing 3900 lbs with driver the car has run a best of 11.33 @ over 5000' elevation (it will run 10.90 @ sea level). As I did not want to put a bar in the car I slowed it down & it runs steady 11.5s @ 116-117 mph on my home track (usually 5000' corrected elevation).

I don't have it back yet. I am out on an oil rig with 2 weeks left on my hitch. That is not my place but the painters family farm yard.

I will pick up the car before Easter. Looking forward to it.

    Default Coming home soon

The car is done. Picking it up on Tuesday. Pumped to see it in person. I'll post more pictures of it @ home next week.

Can't wait for spring to start driving it & showing it off now that it has the look to go with the sound & the performance.
