  • '79 quarter window trim removal?

    Hi all, new here.

I have '79 that has some rust starting under the quarter window trim.
I'd like to remove this piece without breaking the clips, so any advice would be much appreciated.

Next spring I might give it a 442 or H.O. paint theme.

Tough call on not breaking any of the clips, they become very brittle over time.
There are a few sources out there that have replacement clips, I've seen them on eBay.

I've never removed that trim but I did have an NOS pair of them at one point I was saving for an '80 442 I hoped to own one day.

      Thanks.
I'll try and look for the clips, hopefully that will give me some idea on how to remove the molding.

You need a few more cars, sir.

            Another H.O.?
            I love H.O. cars.
One of my favorite cars is the 73-74 Hurst Olds Cutlass ( I like the 73-77 Olds and Chevys the best).

This car was parked along side the road on Hwy 2 in central Nebraska, very small town, blink and you might miss sort of town.

While not an H.O., it was a nice car.

Saw it last year on our camping trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota and had to stop (a quick stop at 70 mph pulling the camper and doing u-turn) and take a look.
Never did call though, too far away from home.

Nice, I love 73 Hursts, my brother has a rare 74 HO W30 one of 380 and a bunch of 75 442s, I like to call them Disco cars.

Doesnt the W30 designate a 455 for certain years?

Well, I went out and removed some interior trim and noticed some screws behind the glass.
It looked like they went into the exterior trim piece.
It looks like I have to remove the quarter window glass to get these moldings out !
Dang it, this repair may be more involved then I wanted.
