I have seen Cutlass's with semi gloss black firewalls and I have seen them body color. Can anybody explain this? Not sure but I know I have seen other G body's with body colored inner fenders not sure about Cutlass's. Are they just semi gloss black?

The firewalls on most Cutlasses were coated with some sort of fireretardent or undercoating, almost like seam sealer. It becomes hard and brittle over time...
However some were not coated, no rhyme or reason I suppose...

When a Cutlass does not use this undercoating, is this why some are body color? As far as other divisions, they use body color or black for the inner fenders? I have seen this on different years as well as makes. Cutlass's are always black then ?Comment
