New project Im working on aside from stripes and decals is a lighted Lightning Rods top plate in which the word "LIGHTNING RODS" and gear selection lights up.
Last night I drafed up an exact dimensional model in Solidworks in 86-88 Teak wood, tonight Im working on the lighted mechanisms.
There are a few ideas I am contemplating.
A stock look using a brass or aluminum base plate (depening on if I want the original golden hue or aluminum to match the vacuum metalized trim on the dash pieces), vinyl wood grain overlay, injection molded white alpha numerics, slider system on levers to shade unused digits.
A custom look with a clear rapid prototype plate or CNC tinted, white or clear plastic, painted black background where it says "Lightning Rods" and let light eminate out the beveled contours and alpha numerics, use the slider system as described above.
or
The same two conceps above but with LED's and use a neutral saftey switch type device to light up gear selection and or color changing LED's for the bevels or "Lightning Rods" (my favorite so far).
I'm working on all options right now and if any of them become cost effective I will offer a few for sale but as of now I can see this not being cheap by any means when you start involving CNC and molding, but you never know... just something that I've always wanted to do to brighten up the console area a little at night. These Gbody interiors are dark...
