  • Best deep 200-4R pan

I am currently in the process of having my kzf built up a little now that funds allow. The th350 just doesn't cut it with 3.73's. I am in need of some opinions on which deep pans are the best. I know a few companies like gbody parts, Hughes, PML, CK Performance, etc carry them. Im looking for how they fit, filter designs, and capacities.

    Thanks.

How many quarts are you looking over stock?

If you are looking for a deep pan find one that fits a TH700R4 filter which picks up the fluid from the bottom.

This one seems to support +2.5qts and 3 7/8" deep but is a little pricey:

Check out the deal on GM 200 4R Deep at PML YourCovers.com

or if you want to save a few bucks and only need 2 extra quarts and 3 1/2" deep (probably the best route for street and if your car is lowered a little):

I ended up going with the Hughes pan. I've got the 200 back in the car with lockup converter and man is it nice. With the 3.73's its nice to turn about 1600 rpm at 45-50 and 1800 at 55. I could cruise all day at that rpm . I like the tci manual valvebody, BO servo, and B&M lockup kit. Nice shifts and really knocks the rpm down when the converter locks.

Edit: I did clean off the tag on the end of the trans beacuse i couldn't stand it being painted over. Didn't like the KZF being covered..

Did you rebuild the trans yourself?
I am thinking about getting that pan myself when I get a TH2004R for my '88 CSC.
I am putting in a 3.42 8.5" tonight and am not sure if the TH 400 is going to like it.

I had the shop that has done all my transmissions do the actual build. Valve body, 10 vane pump, hardened stator shaft, and all the other usual stuff. I did the pan, new solenoid, torque converter, iceman crossmember, and the rest of the install with factory floor shifter and column linkage, and drilled the pan for a temp sender. I never run any more than 150* but its not through the radiator just a HD cooler. Ill have to get more pics up..

I hear you about the 3.42's.. Even though I don't do much highway, 3.73's and no OD were tough. I'm enjoying the 4th gear and lockup so much that I've driven the car to work every day this week. I havent done that since the KZF came out how long ago.... Less noise, more mpg = win.

Contemplating going to 4.10's now when I go through the rear end. She's never been rebuilt posi still works though.
