Hi I am new here and so far love the website, for starters I own a 79 cutlass original with a V6 ac/ps. I just bought a 455 olds motor with a 400th tranny. I was wondering what headers you guys found to work the best without a hugh price tag. I am planning on eliminating the heater box on the firewall. Any help would be great......

Headers + 455 + 78-88 cutlass = $$$.$$ + need for smaller front tires. (tube over frame) If you aren't going for real power best to stick with Real duel manifolds. Around $250. Best bang for your buck! But then again I'm running those damn, big tubed, over the frame, rubbing on the tire, dumping out the rear thru 3" pipes. And what do I have? Something that Scares the Hell out of someone when you tap the throttle a tad (say 3 grand) just when your 3" pipe pointing out the side after the rear tire directly at the driver on the right. I eather receive the thumbs up, Or the finger! No matter ! I win!!:icon14: Damn no finger

LOL, I think I get more of the finger with my loud exhaust.
I am putting in some super comps later this week in my 84, probably will run into problems I'm
I was hoping for a quieter ride with 2 mufflers instead of the stock 2.25 system with one Flowmaster. Probably won't happen...
I picked up a 2.5" Pypes x-pipe from BMS Exhaust for $154 shipped since the headers have reducers welded to them already.
I'll probably need to pickup tail pipes as well if I want to quiet it down.
What is the size of the front tire that you are running?
I have 235/60's on 15" SSIII's andLightning Rods repair service:CLICK HERE

Yes, the only other place to get them that don't go over the frame is from Kooks which is now owned by Dick Miller Racing. They are EXPENSIVEbut worth it, they come in 1 7/8 primaries and 2" primaries for 78-88 Cutlass with a 455:
Here are a few more pictures of what the Hookers look like:

Here are some of mine before I coated them, bought them used for $190:

Im having a little trouble understanding the DMR headers in a 78-88 cutlass. I've looked thru everything I can get to see it in print that they fit inside the frame on our cutlass. I haven't read a post here or on oldpower.com that anyone has them, a lot of people know someone who has them. I'd go for them but that's a lot of money to spend without really knowing. I wish some of these mfg people would put it in black and white for us old fools. We have way too much **** in the garage that were purchased being told it works and doesn't and you can't send it back because it was special order.

have to read the entire description on the DMR website. It does say that their headers are completely inside the frame rails for the 78-79 cutlass with a Olds Big Block
"DMR header are the highest quality header ever offered with features seen only on high priced headers. Includes ported opening for unobstructed flow, scavenger spiked collectors that direct exhaust gases to the center of the collector (for much greater efficiency), all primary tubes run inside the frame (no need to modify wheel wells), and will fit standard or automatic transmission cars. Select car and sizes at View Cart. Edelbrock as well as most aluminum heads require raised port (RP) headers. For protective coatings and more power order coatings separately.(br> "
Then buy one go to the shopping cart and thats where they list the applications. Trust me I have been beating my head against a brick wall for weeks tring to find headers new or used this is my only option will not go through the fender well:icon13:
