Wow sounds like everyone is having issues with high idle.
My issue with a high is a bit different and has the symptoms of a sticky butterflies. The only way to fix it is to jab on the throttle so it kicks back down. You'd think it's the linkage sticking but I believe it's not. When the car is off it moves freely and the throttle linkage is fully closed and returned to the idle position. I can't get it to stick partially open at all, only when the car is running. This tells me that the choke isn't interfering and the anti-diesel solenoid is not interfering either. Is it possible for manifold vacuum to pull the butterflies open on the carb, slightly preventing them from returning all the way? This the only thing I can think of.
