  • Rusty frame

    Great site!
I am glad there is a site specific to G-bodies and the 'ugly duckling' A-body's, (no offence anyone).
I drive a Gray 1987 Cutlass Salon that I have owned for a year now. I am mainly an El Camino guy with my pride and joy being a 68 Elky but I'll save that discussion for another day. One thing I am looking for is repair panels for my rustless, specifically rear frame rails. Has anyone had this problem with these rusting out?
As anyone done this repair? What is the easiest way to do this without removing the body from the frame? Can this be done?

Bumpers falling off were a big problem with 76-77 Cutlasses...

I knew someone who had their whole trunk area supported by a metal cable.

LOL, reminds me of my dad's 76 that had clothes line poles for bumpers, he got a ticket for 'no bumpers' from the cops once.

We also fabricated a trunk out of wood 1x1's and sheetmetal for a rotten 67 GTO, it was later crushed by a tree...

Those love to fall off, there is one dangling on my 84 right now and is only being supported by the wheel well trim.

                        They may work.
Here is a picture of the different kinds, the frame on the left is for the El-Camino, the middle one is the car, and the one on the right is the station wagon.
