  • Defroster not working correctly.

I know I just joined, but I'm working on something and need some advise on what I'm doing. The defroster in my new to me '79 Cutlass isn't working. I can jump a wire from the battery to the motor and she runs, so I ordered a new relay from the parts store. It won't be here until tomorrow, so I figured I'd ask if there's anything else I need to check or look out for.

I like to work on cars, but I hate electricity. Electricity IS the Devil.

Okay, I just deciphered my VIN and the engine is a 4.3 Liter V8. Not the 350 I was hoping for, but I'm not hot rodding either.

Welcome, you have an Olds 260, definately not one of Oldsmobile's most performance orientated engines but better than a V6 (I think ).
Do you have a 5 speed trans?

Is your rear defrost the kind with the motor in the back package shelf?
I would check the fuse in the fuse block first but yes the relay would be a good start.
