What's up guys. Just picked up a set of 14x7 SSII's and tried putting them on my '88 Cutlass Supreme. The rears SEEM to fit fine so far, but the fronts were rubbing really bad. I took them back off and realized the inside lip of the rim was scraping against the control arm. A problem I did not see coming unfortunately. Could I get away with just putting some 3/8" spacers on the front? Would this cause any driveability issues? Any better suggestions? Thanks guys.

The back spacing on SSII's are 4.25", 14x7 whereas SSIII's are 14x6 with a 3.5" BS.
That's a 3/4" difference.
I wouldn't suggest using spacers on the fronts due to the added forces from turning causing stress on a now shorter lug.
Those puppies will just shear off...
SSIII's are plentiful, I have a few sets sitting around that I don' need.
If you need just a pair for the front I have two I'll sell for $75 shipped.Lightning Rods repair service:CLICK HERE

Over the weekend I went to a local shop & the mechanic installed 1/4" spacers in the front and that seemed to do the trick; it now clears the tie rod & caliper. He said as long as we could still get 6 full turns on a lug it would be acceptable, which we did. Agreed, I'm not a big fan of spacers either but I wanted to try to make it work. I don't do any kind of racing; the fastest I ever get her up to is about 85 on the highway. Could you send me a few pics of your SSIII's?'88 Cutlass Supreme 307
