  • 1985 442 Restoration - Blue, T-tops, loaded

Just picked up a very rare white 1985 442 with t-tops, blue interior and loaded with all options including fiber optics, remote pass. mirror, power everything, factory rear W40 spoiler, rear defog and lighted visor.
I think the only options it didn't come with is posi, a tow package and block heater.

I've only seen one 1983 Hurst Olds with a tow package, yes that's what I said... tow package on a Hurst.

I saved this car from being parted out, it is originally from Maryland, all numbers matching, assembled in Arlington, Texas.
The car is in much better shape than I originally thought it would be.
Amazingly the floors are SOLID as well as the T-top area. I was shocked to say the least. I was expecting a trashed rust bucket.
The only problem areas are the rockers and lower quarters (which aren't so bad) the wheel wells are fine. This should definately be an easy restoration. :icon14:

Very Nice! That looks pretty damn decent...I thought it had a lot more rust based on the ad on G.B.F. ...Glad you snagged it before it got chopped up! Its amazing how little respect the 80s 442s get from some people...I saved my 442 from a life of circle track racing, the seller told me that everyone else interested wanted it for that reason...
I have became Obsessed with the Cutlass...more specificly the Hurst & 442s....My Regal is almost ready 4 paint & I keep thinking about selling it & buying either a Hurst, another 442, Or a T.Type....

i saved my 87 442 from being parted out, guy told me it prob cant be fixed i didnt care and bought it anyways, he was right it cant be fixed, the pillars by windsheild are both rotted right through, i can lift whole roof, but everything else is perfect. im gonna find another body and rebuild this 442. im told there was only like 1100 of the 442 built in 87, out of those 1100 some had t tops and some didnt, im sorry but i cant let this one go to scrap

There were 4208 442's built in 87, out of them 1110 had T-tops.
Only 350 were exported to Canada and I believe there were around 110 with t-tops.
You just don't see 442's and H/O's on the road... or any Cutlasses anymore for that matter.

The doors look shot but the quarters you might be able to save by sandblasting but they have to know what they are doing not to warp the panels.Good luck were you able to sell your last build?

Yes, frame off on the 87 and one of the 83s as well.
The other 83 is a drag car and the 88 H/O is a work in progress (twin turbo DX).

Just curious.....88HurstOlds, it looks like you do quite a bit of the work on your fleet of classics....What types of work do you have a shop do Or don't like doing? I enjoy trying to do most things myself, I'm getting to the point where I have more extra money than extra time...I'm working at a shop today where they rebuild trannys & rear ends for trucks....& several of the employees want me to do electrical sidework....I'm gonna see if I can swap a tranny rebuild or posi added to my rear end for my electrical services....
