Use the 307 and build the 350 right... otherwise you're just wasting money and you'll never get the 350 built with it in the car.
thanks…That's what I was thinking…just wanted some input…I have limited experience with Olds engines…looking forward to learning though; been reading "how to build Max Performance Olds engines" book…very insightful…

& I just may need that 85 tranny…I haven't even got mine on a stand to look at it yet…I paln on doing that within the next 2 weeks…

I might be parting with my 85 442 motor and tranny if interested.

I would go with 307 to keep original. If thats the route you want to go but I think get more out of 350.

    started a topic vin 9 307???

    vin 9 307???

I recently bought a 1985 442 without the original engine. I did buy a 70/71 350 rocket that will need rebuilt at the same time… I would like to rebuild that 350 eventually & spend some cash getting all the hardcore horsepower goodies… I am thinking that may be a few years down the road before I have the time & money to complete that rebuild the way I am envisioning it… Recently, I bought a vin 9 307 out of an 86' 442…the engine is complete minus one exhaust manifold & appears {haven't opened her up yet} to be a lower mileage engine… I think I could Reseal the 307 & use it in my 442 with a lot less time & money involved…

So here is my opinion ? ?…should I go with the 307 for now & do a Nice Build on the 350 Or would I be better off cleaning up that 350 & slapping it in without completely reWorking it? I've read that you can't do much additional performance wise to the 307s… I'm not going for out of control Power, but I don't want a grocery getter…Thanks in advance…
Working...
