Where did you get that steering wheel from? What is it out of?

The steering wheel is from I believe an 82-83 Cutlass, it was a rare option only offered for two years IIRC from what the parts book said.

86 442 z49

I have a 86 442 z49 i jus had the engine rebuilt i have it installed, im jus finishing up the wiring. i was wondering is there any thing special about the canadian DOT approved rally wheels mines are rusted around the ring. I wanted to know if i should repair or replace them. Also in tech info on how to repair the ralley guage cluster my oil, volt, and gas gauge dont work

There is nothing special about the wheels, except for the date code all factory chrome 15x7 wheels are identical physically.

Gauges not working is a common problem, the gagues become loose from the back of the cluster or at the connection from the dash to the cluster will also come loose as seen here:

Why didnt they just make all the 442's with a 350 (im talking 85-87)? It would have made a world of difference.

Site is no longer available, just use eye connectors on the back of the screw terminals and replace the circuit board with wires instead. Follow each circuit to each harness wire to essentially bypass the circuit board.
