  • Finally Got Around To It....

We finally got around to swapping out the rear end in my Cutlass yesterday.
Out with the 2.29:1 peg leg 7.5,
and in with the 3.08:1 Posi 7.5 rear end.
Haven't really played with it yet.
Will take it out today and see how it feels.

I did something today I've never done before with my Cutlass.
I inadvertantly squealed the tires taking off from a stop sign!
The car, while still stock, seems to jump now when you goose it.
Previously, you'd step on it, and it would just poke along.

I have a 3.08 posi in my 88 with a 3-speed trans and it's an excellent overall gear for highway and performance.
Now the 3.73 posi in my 84 did not like 3-speed transmissions... now have the 2004R in it and should be ready for some summer fun this weekend.

I remember my 83 had an really tall gear in the rear. It took off like a dog. If I ever got around to swapping it I may have kept it.

I love the new rear end.
It feels like a different car.
Uses a lot more gas due to me stepping on it.
Ah, but who cares, because it's so much more fun to play with.lol.
