  • Lighting rod shifter

I just picked up a set of lightning rod shifters from a 84 Ho that I will be installing in my 86 cutlass. I would like some picks of all the parts and type of screws that the factory used to mount the shifter. The top plate was in real poor shape so I did not buy the top plate. The plate looked to have three parts to it top plate gasket and a aluminum plate. The shifter was out of the car so I do not know what parts I'm missing. I just picked up a aluminum rad support from a pontiac very cool piece I hope it fits the olds.

IT came with a nos cable and the shifter is very close to nos as it came out of a car that was hit in 84 and never fixed so it has no wear, the car has just sat and has no km on it. The person that was selling it had a few other sets but were worn. He also had one 83 and one 84 HO as well as two parts cars that were HO's. It would be great to have a picture of all the parts to a complete factory set up. The top plate that he did have was cracked and worn. I will be going back to his place when he has more time for another look at all his parts and try and find the plate that goes with the shifter.

im not familiar with the aftermarket plates. your probably better off just making a top plate out of sheet metal until you can find a nos or used one for a good price.

P.s do you know if this guy is selling any of these parts online or is willing to ship? im looking for a set of lightning rods as well. how much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?

Did you get the base plate, console bracket and trans bracket?
Don't have any photos of the setup, you do need the trans bracket and base plate and cable at minimum ill be installing a set in my 85 soon, I can document it when I do.
Oldsgmail.com has a detailed step by step as well.

He is very busy I'm trying to get a hold of him. It took me weeks last time and even when I went out to his place he had little time to deal with me. I still need parts off him so I will post and let you no when I get a hold of him.
