307 Hurst into a 1988 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser wagon

Hello,

I wanted to ask if anyone has fitted a Hurst 307 into an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser wagon?

The stock 307 I have in my 1988 wagon is underpowered.

I want to keep the Computer Command Controlled Quadrajet Carburetor if I can.

Also, if I move to California could this be an issue? I'm currently in an area were there is no smog testing requirements.

I have thought of putting in a 403 with 350 #5 heads from 1968/69 and again keeping the CCC system but thought that might be the more expensive option.

I'd appreciate any comments.

The VIN9 307 will drop right in.
You can still use the same computer and carb if need be but it wouldn't be hard to swap out for the correct computer and carb.
The harnesses and distributor are the same still and everything would bolt up.
Also, make sure to use the VIN9 exhaust manifolds instead of the restrictive VINY log style manifolds.

Same scenario would apply if you were to install a factory 403 or 350, a few have installed 403's and 350's on the computer, the computer doesn't recognize cubic inches, only A/F mixture...

As for California Emissions, I am sure it would pass if everything was in good running order however I am not 100% since with more cubic inches you are now increasing the volume of exhaust output.
It is strongly recommended with California to keep cars stock...
