Nice to see an Olds specific G-body forum.
I have an '87 442 that I bought new in late '86 with now only 28K actual miles. I just realized I don't have any digital pics so I will go fix that, weather permitting, and post later.
At only 24K miles, after exhausting ALL possibilities for any notable performance increase to the stock 307 given its narrow cylinder walls and windowed mains, I just said, freak it, and built a custom 442 CI Olds BB in front of a heavily beefed 2004R. I didn't really set out to build a 442 CI but I did want a nicely over-square bore>stroke engine since I was going to stay naturally aspirated.
We measured the already +.060 F 455 block I had for another project and found we could have gone a full 1/8th safely so cleaning it up with an additional .020 was easy enough. Anyway, when you do the math, you end up with a 4.205 bore over a 3.975 stroke and 442 CI which is just kinda novelty cool is all. Has Pontiac 10.5:1 pistons, Edelbrock Aluminum heads mildly port matched to a Performer intake, and a relatively mild [for streetability] .496/.512 - 276/280o Comp cam and roller rockers, running just a modified 750QJ and WZ BB manifolds because I hate headers into TorqueTech 2 1/2" true dual exhaust. Since I cannot begin to get the power I have to the ground, what's the point in more carburetion and headers at this point? But, I have an engine core that can certainly take this to that next level if I choose to make the necessary suspension, rear end, etc. mods.
And, that's where I am at . . . looking to take a car that runs great straight now into something that hooks up better and can actually turn a corner.
