Hello everyone, just picked up this 79 Calais from down in Kentucky. I was looking for a Supreme but ran into the Calais. Had a 79 Supreme back in the early 80's and just loved the car. Has a bad 260 in it now but going to do a 455 swap with a 400 tranny and a 8.5 rear with a 3:73 or 3:90, just not sure yet. Car's body was pretty clean with not much rust at all, underbody is clean. He wanted over $3000, but paid $2500 for the Calais. So hopefully its a good start. The last pics was of my 79 that i had in the early 80's. Thanks

Looks clean, I kinda like the interior color, too bad it wasnt the rare 260 5speed combo.
Why is it lifted?
Did it have wagon wheels on it at one time?Lightning Rods repair service:CLICK HERE

When i bought the car i was told that his newphew just put a lift on the car to put 20's on it. When i looked at it the springs they look like bannas under neath the car, way to long with no play. So i'm going to put the car back to stock height. Just cant wait to get started since Christmas is over.

welcome to this forum...!....I have always liked the 79's....looks like a good start, if you can find one with minimal rust you are doing well....Are you gonna drive it for a while with the 260 Or yank it out right away? I test drove a Cutty with a v8 260 once, man was it a dog...It sure would work til you got the 455 built tho....
